The Winter Widow

A Kansas Cozy Mystery - Book 1

  • Rating: full starfull starstar outlinestar outlinestar outline (2/5)

Lots of livestock, puzzling murder and so not a cozy

This took two tries to get through. The story started off like a shot, literally. It was a very slow burn with lots Susan tripping. It had a lot about livestock, a bit to much for me, but others may like it.

I started to like it around Chapter 19. Then … ugh!

I ended up somewhat liking Pankhurst and Susan - some, but not enough to want to continue the series. It is just not for me.

If you read it make sure you keep in mind the date of publication. Also, I saw it listed as “A Kansas Cozy Mystery Book 1” and “Susan Wren #1”.  The latter is more appropriate, in my opinion.

Happy Reading!
