On Spine of Death
by: Tamara Berry
By the Book Mysteries - Book 2
- Rating: (4/5)
Does death run in the family, more than just on the written page?
I love how the story is around a thriller writer, her daughter, the small town she is now making home, and the mysteries she stumbles into.
The summary tells us that there is a discovery at Tess’ grandfather’s old hardware store. My first thought was, is the place cursed? In the last story, Buried in a Good Book, several not-so-nice events happened there. With the renovations it was to turn things around, but does it?
Gertie is whipping up culinary delights, Nicki is still on the hunt for dirt on the resident bad guys and Tess is falling into bones.
With the witty dialogue reminiscent of Gilmore Girls, the story moves at steady and entertaining pace.
I was frustrated with Sheriff Boyd but upon reflection I get it. Jared - not sure what to say about. He’s the person you look at and just shake your head.
Happy Reading!
